Maras, Moray & Chinchero Tour
History, culture, and landscapes in the Sacred Valley
Hidden among the majestic mountains and fertile valleys of Cusco lies a route that reveals the true grandeur of the Inca civilization.
In Moray, the enigmatic circular terraces stand as an advanced agricultural laboratory that defies the passage of time, while a few kilometers away, in Maras, thousands of artisanal salt pits glisten like a white mirror carved into the mountain. The journey culminates in Chinchero, a town with deep-rooted traditions where the past remains alive in its cobblestone streets and in the hands of its textile artisans.
With our Tour to Maras, Moray, and Chinchero, you’ll experience a day of complete relaxation and absolute wonder. An essential experience designed for those who don’t just want to take photos, but to understand and feel the authentic essence of the Sacred Valley.
ITINERARY
Discover three gems of the Sacred Valley on a perfect half-day tour, ideal for making the most of your time in Cusco by combining spectacular scenery, history, and living culture. We begin the journey in Moray, an enigmatic Inca agricultural laboratory whose imposing circular terraces simulate different microclimates, showcasing this civilization’s incredible scientific wisdom in adapting to the environment.
Next, we continue to the famous Maras Salt Mines, a breathtaking landscape where more than three thousand pools of pink salt glisten on the mountainside. This site offers unique photo opportunities and preserves a living tradition: the artisanal extraction of salt that local families have kept alive since pre-Inca times.
Finally, we visit the charming village of Chinchero, “the cradle of the rainbow,” to explore its historical heritage and participate in a live textile demonstration. There, the women of the community will teach you the ancient art of traditional spinning and dyeing with natural dyes, connecting you with the pure essence of the Andes.
When we’re done, we’ll return to Cusco with plenty of time to enjoy your afternoon, your heart full of authentic experiences. With Peru Top Expeditions, every destination becomes a comfortable and safe experience you’ll remember forever.
