Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley ATV Tour
Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley ATV Tour: Adrenaline and Fun
Cusco is home to two treasures that seem to be from another planet: the iconic Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) and the majestic Red Valley. Seeing them in photos is impressive, but experiencing them firsthand is a completely different story.
With Peru Top Expeditions, we transform the grueling traditional trek into an adventure filled with freedom. Hop on an ATV, conquer the altitude in total comfort, and let the adrenaline guide your way through landscapes that shift from fuchsia to turquoise and ochre.
It’s the perfect getaway to connect with the mountain’s energy, avoid the crowds, and live an unforgettable experience.
ITINERARY
Our adventure begins at dawn. We’ll pick you up directly from your hotel and head south of Cusco, making our first stop in the village of Cusipata to enjoy a hearty breakfast. With our energy levels at their peak, we’ll continue the journey to Labrayani, the starting point for the ATV tour. After a brief safety briefing, we’ll start the engines for a 45 minute ride of pure adrenaline, traversing spectacular Andean landscapes: snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, and local wildlife in its natural habitat.
Upon arriving at Wampo Ccocha, we’ll swap the engine for a light 25 minute hike. This final stretch will treat you to privileged views of the stunning Red Valley before revealing the majestic Mountain of Seven Colors before your eyes. After exploring, resting, and taking memorable photos, we’ll begin the descent to enjoy a hearty lunch and wrap up the day with the transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The great advantage of our ATV tour is that we visit both the Mountain of Seven Colors and the Red Valley. Since we’re traveling by ATV, we cover ground much faster, which gives you the time and energy you need to hike to the Red Valley overlook without overexerting yourself. Traditional tours don’t always visit the Red Valley due to time constraints and fatigue.
Yes! We offer the option of a Double ATV (two people on one machine) or a Single ATV (one person per machine). If you choose the double option, you can take turns driving, provided both passengers are adults. It is an ideal option for couples or parents with teenagers.
Yes, although much less than the full trekking tour. Keep two things in mind::
- The Altitude: You will be above 5,000 meters, so you will still need to walk the final 15-25 minutes to the viewpoint, and you might feel short of breath.
- The Driving: Driving an ATV on irregular terrain requires some arm strength and attention. It is not a sedentary activity; it is an adventure!
Absolutely! It is a dramatic landscape of red soil (resembling Mars) and has far fewer tourists than the Rainbow Mountain. For many travelers, the photos here are even better than at the main mountain!
