3-Day Colca Canyon Tour: From Arequipa to Cusco Connection
3 Days / 2 Nights
ITINERARY
DAY 1: Into the Heart of the Colca Valley
Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arequipa. As we ascend toward the Colca Canyon, we’ll cross the stunning Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, where you can spot wild vicuñas and alpacas in their natural habitat.
We’ll make a strategic stop at Patahuasi to enjoy a traditional coca tea, essential for altitude acclimatization. The route continues through Pampa de Tocra, a birdwatcher's paradise, reaching the expedition's highest point: Patapampa (4,910m). From this natural balcony, you will witness the majestic Misti, Chachani, and Ampato volcanoes.
Upon arriving in Chivay, you’ll have time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, unwind at the La Calera thermal baths, surrounded by mountains, or explore the Chivay craft market for authentic handmade souvenirs. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Chivay.

DAY 2: The Flight of the Condor
We start early to reach the Condor's Cross (Cruz del Condor), the most iconic viewpoint in the canyon. Here, you’ll witness the breathtaking sight of the Andean Condor—the world's largest flying bird—soaring over the canyon depths. An optional short hike is available for those seeking better photographic angles.
On our way back to Chivay, we’ll visit the colonial village of Yanque and explore historical gems like Pinchollo, and the Antahuilque & Wayrapunko viewpoints. These spots offer views of pre-Inca hanging tombs and ancient terraces still in use today. We’ll also visit Maca, famous for its traditional atmosphere and colonial church. Enjoy your second night in Chivay, soaking in the peaceful Andean vibe.

DAY 3: Scenic Transfer: Chivay to the Imperial City of Cusco
At 6:45 AM, we depart from Chivay toward Cusco. This is more than a transfer; it's a scenic route through the high Andes.
Around 1:00 PM, we’ll stop at the massive Langui Lagoon, a 25km natural mirror perfect for photography. By 2:00 PM, we arrive in Sicuani for a local lunch at the renowned Don Felipón restaurant (optional). Our final cultural stop is Andahuaylillas, home to the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas," famous for its incredible 17th-century murals.
We’ll arrive in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 PM, where our team will be waiting to drop you off directly at your hotel in the Cusco Historic Center.
